Computer Input Devices

  Input Device

      Data instruction entered into a computer through input devices. An input device first converts desired input data and instruction into a suitable binary from (i.e 0 and 1) and then feed it into the CPU. The commonly used input device is the keyboard. A number of other input devices have been developed that do not require typing. these are:-

• Mouse
• Joystick
• Trackball
• Light pen
• graphic tablet
• Touch screen

       The above listed Devices permit the user to select an image on the computer screen by pointing to it. Therefore, these devices are also called pointing devices.
       Voice input system have also been developed. A microphone is used as an input in such devices. In applications, wheres computer with vision are required, namely robots and computer-based security system, computers use optical and semiconductor devices that are sensitive to light. Such input devices produce digital signals corresponding to images, pictures etc.
